My friend Addye, an abstract artist, is the founder of the Tessera Arts Collective. Tessera is a gallery in Philadelphia that is committed to elevating the work of abstract artists who also identify as women of colour. The artists she features are amazing — Marcus and I own a few pieces from Tessera, ourselves.

This weekend, she flew down to Houston to spend some time with Marcus, Alex and me, and while she was here, I was able to shoot a few portraits of her.

It had been a while since I’d shot portraits, it was so lovely to remember how much I loved doing so (and why portraiture is my favourite type of photography).

Plus, Addye’s face is just so wonderful to photograph.

Happy Monday, folks.
