kindnesses, and failures thereof

The other day, Marcus went to the grocery store and found these peonies as big as my head, so he bought them for me. They’re insane. I love them so much.

My head has been down trying to get this book finished (it’s due to my publisher in less than two weeks). So please excuse my silence. But I wanted to pop in and share an old favourite of mine, that I stumbled upon as I was doing a bit of research: this commencement speech from George Saunders to the 2013 graduating class of Syracuse University. The salient part:

So here’s something I know to be true, although it’s a little corny, and I don’t quite know what to do with it:

What I regret most in my life are failures of kindness.
— George Saunders

You can watch it here, and read it here. Enjoy.
