it's here! lightmaker launch event details!!
Friends, I'm so thrilled: folks have already begun receiving their copies of The Lightmaker's Manifesto, and have been since the beginning of the month! The reviews on Goodreads have been so generous:
"The Lightmaker's Manifesto' is, at least for me, such a soul-shifting, soul-rattling, squirm-inducing, light-manifesting literary beacon of sorts."
"Karen Walrond's book is a light that shines your way to joy and possibility."
"Regardless of where you are in your journey to activism, there's something in this book for you. There are inspiring stories, motivational examples, clear action and next steps and a full workbook for you to design your own personal journey."
Lovely, right?
The book officially launches on November 2nd, and pre-orders remain so important, not just for me, but for my sweet, sweet publisher as well. So if you haven't already, please order yourself and/or your friends a copy of The Lightmaker's Manifesto. I'd be so, so grateful.
And now, for the fun part: events!!
blue willow bookshop launch event
Thanks to the lovely Blue Willow Bookshop, I'll be celebrating the launch of The Lightmaker's Manifesto on November 2nd at 7pm Central US time, with my dear friend Mira Jacob, author of the brilliant graphic memoir, Good Talk, and one of the featured luminaries in my book! The event is VIRTUAL and FREE, so simply click here to register to attend. (And pro tip: if you'd like a signed copy of The Lightmaker's Manifesto, Blue Willow has them, and will ship internationally, so feel free to show them some love.)
the jung center & houston coalition against hate
Then, once you've celebrated with me on November 2nd, join me for another event on November 3rd from 6 - 7:30 p.m., hosted by The Jung Center and Houston Coalition Against Hate. This is also open to the public, and I'll be in conversation with Marjorie Joseph, the Executive Director of Houston Coalition Against Hate, an organization for which I'm proud to serve on the board. The Jung Center is a forum for dynamic conversations on a diverse range of psychological, artistic, and spiritual topics, so if this sounds like your jam, then please join us -- the event is virtual, and pay-what-you-can, so it's sure to be an amazing conversation! Click here to register.
nowhere bookshop launch event
Finally, if you still can't get enough, then grab a ticket to Nowhere: On Thursday, November 18th, at 6pm Central, I'll be in conversation with my dear, dear friend, New York Times bestselling author Jenny Lawson, proprietress of Nowhere Bookshop! Jenny is devastatingly funny, and honestly, God knows what topics might come up: we might talk about my book, or we might talk about her giant metal chicken ... who knows? The event is again virtual and open to the public, so please register here -- your ticket price includes a copy of The Lightmaker's Manifesto!
I hope you’ll join me at one (or all!) of these events, my friends. I can’t believe that launch day is finally here, and I miss you!
See you next week!
