In October 2016, I was invited to keynote a corporate retreat at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, just outside of Anchorage, and I flew out for approximately 36 hours. This was my second trip to Alaska: the first was almost 30 years earlier, when I was flown out for a similar length of time for a job interview -- only that time, it was in late December, and I never actually saw the state in daylight. (Also, I didn't get the job.) This trip, however, the sun was in its glory, and I had an hour or two to go exploring. A highlight: on the flight on the way back, I was able to photograph the aurora borealis.
