hasselblad friday: roll #6 (or, just messing around with the camera)

Roll number 6, and the second roll of Fuji film.  I will admit that for this roll, I was just playing around with the camera for the sole purpose of confirming that yes, in fact, I love this Fuji film.  (And I do.)  So the images here aren't going to give you glimpses into other foreign, exciting worlds -- it's just my old, familiar, mundane life.

Still, I like it.

So, let's begin.  Above, you see my new very favourite portrait of Alex ever.  Also, how big is this kid getting?  She'll be 8 in a few weeks.  Eight.  I mean, I started Chookooloonks a few weeks before she was born, and now she's about to be eight.  How did that happen?

The above is Alex's "Woman, Sometimes I Can't Believe You're My Mother" Look, usually delivered with a generous helping of Incredulous Amusement and a soupçon of Mockery.  I have no idea what I did or said in this instance to elicit such a response; let's just say this particular reaction is not that uncommon.  Also?  Marcus makes a similar expression (except substitute "Wife" for "Mother").

You have no idea the abuse I live with in this house.

"Hey, Mom, you want to see my supermodel pose?" she asked.

"Go ahead, then," I answered, aiming my camera.  And she came up with what you see above.

I just don't know, man.

I call this one Still Life with Marcus' and My Tea Mugs.  I bet you can't tell we painted them ourselves!

And finally, a shot taken in a local Free People boutique.  Dude, I love Free People.  I spend too much money at Free People.

Don't tell Marcus I was there.

More riveting shots next week, folks.  I think the next roll was taken around our home!  Exciting times!

* * * * * * *

Actually, I DO have some exciting news:

It's time.

Over the next 72 hours, I'm going to be launching the brand new Chookooloonks.com!  At some point over the weekend, if you come back here, you will notice a whole new look -- one that will amaze you!  One that will spellbind you!

One that just might possibly confuse you.

It turns out that it takes a lot of blood, sweat and code to redesign an entire site and build it on an entirely new platform, so just a warning:  during this weekend's transition, there may be a couple of hiccups along the way.  I'm going to ask you, friends, to please be patient as we make this thing happen.  But I promise, in the end, it'll be worth the wait.

(Also, you may have to refresh your browser or eat your cookies, or some other such technical thing, to see the changes.)

In the meantime, have a great weekend, everybody.

Song:  Purple rain by Prince.  I sang this at the top of my lungs yesterday morning to help wake Alex to get her ready for school.  Which may or may not have resulted in one of her looks.
