summer hindsight 2013

I take thousands of photographs every year, only a fraction of which actually ever show up here on Chookooloonks. There are tons of reasons why I might not choose to publish an image: for example, I might have taken another similar one that is technically better, or the photograph didn't work with whatever I was planning on saying that day, or frankly, I just forgot.

Yesterday time got away from me and I wasn't able to take my camera out; so last night, as I sat down to write this post, I looked to see if any previous shots I've taken might provide some inspiration. Going through my archives of the last few months, I discovered several images that I hadn't shared with you before -- shots that, on reflection, I quite liked after all.

This was, frankly, concerning; I mean, how many other photographs have I taken over the last 9 years of blogging that will never see the light of day, simply because I forgot they existed, or never bothered to give a second look?

So I decided that going forward I'll start spending some time going through my archives a little closer, and if I find any that have grown on me, I'll share them with you periodically in a seasonal "hindsight" post. For this first one, the images here are ones that I took this summer, between June 1st and August 31st. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to why I picked these particular images to share with you tonight, or why you haven't seen them until now, and yet seeing them together like this pretty well illustrates what summer felt like around here.
