susannah conway: this i know
Remember my friend Susannah Conway? Most recently, I mentioned her 6 months ago when I was in Bath -- she was the friend to took me to that amazing restaurant by Jamie Oliver. Well, I'm thrilled to let you know she's written the beautiful book you see above -- This I Know: Notes On Unraveling the Heart -- which is released today!
Susannah was kind enough to send me an advance copy of her book a few weeks ago, and I took it with me on my trip to Greensboro. As I've mentioned before, this is a great book if you or someone you know is currently experiencing any personal loss or grief: it chronicles Susannah's journey of recovery from the loss of her partner several years ago, but the lessons she learns (and indeed, the journaling and photography prompts she describes) would be applicable to any situation where you're trying to find your way back to a state of equilibrium. The book is very sensitively written, almost as if she were sitting next to you holding your hand as you went through it.
Also, honestly, I think you'd feel better just flipping through the pages. It is, in the end, a really stunning book:
Late last week, Susannah treated me to one of our far-too-rare skype calls, and we decided that we'd record our conversation, so she can tell you about the book herself. The following is that 15 minute conversation, so grab a cuppa and sit down to watch. Or even better, sit down to listen -- because her English accent will charm the socks off of you.
Enjoy, friends. And keep shooting those wonderful sunshine-y #instacamp shots and sharing them -- at the end of the week, they just might win you a copy of Susannah's lovely book.
