I work really hard at trying to see the big picture and not getting stuck in ego. I believe we're all put on this planet for a purpose, and we all have a different purpose ... When you connect with that love and that compassion, that's when everything unfolds.

I'm a list-maker, and I'm all about making detailed baby steps to achieve the things that I want to do -- I believe in this method of making great things happen. But recently, including while I was at the conference this past weekend, I had a few reminders that sometimes it's important to zoom waaaaaaay out: that staying focused on the details for too long gets you lost in the weeds.
A couple of weeks ago, I recorded a podcast with my friend Koren Motekaitis, where we talked about "what's next" -- what happens when the novelty of the new year starts to wane, and you're back in your groove. One of the things we talked about was the need to take a step back and do sort of a periodic "personal retreat": taking some time to ensure that in doing the day-to-day, you haven't lost sight of what you were hoping for yourself for the entire year, and make corrections if necessary. We thought it makes sense to set aside time to do this about once a quarter.
So this week, I'm going to make the commitment to schedule the time over the next year to do this for myself. (And if you do this, and have any tips to share, please feel free to share them in the comments.)

This is the last week that registration is open for Light & Colour A/V Journaling Course. Registration has been light for this course, which is good news for you: it means that it will be an even more intimate and interactive experience. I'd love to have you join me -- it'll be a great way to check in with what you want for yourself over January.
