waiting for the rain (59/100)

Tropical Storm Beta (sidebar: how sad is it that we ran out of names for hurricanes this year?) is expected to start affecting our weather today. It’s strange — even though a few weeks ago, a far more dangerous hurricane (Hurricane Laura) was threatening our area, I wasn’t too concerned — but because the path of this relatively minor storm bears a striking similarity to the path of another storm of the past that had a significant impact on our lives, I feel vaguely more on edge about this one. My mind tells me that I’m being ridiculous — there is seriously no reason to worry. Absolutely none. We’re expected to get 4 - 10 inches of rain over the next four days, on the outside. Harvey, by comparison, was over fifty inches in the same time frame. This is totally manageable.

Still.
